چکیده

In this paper, we study the statistical characterization and modeling of distributed multi-reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided wireless systems. Specifically, consider a practical system model where RISs with different geometric sizes are distributively deployed, channels associated to assumed be independent but not identically (i.n.i.d.). We propose two purpose-oriented multi-RIS-aided schemes, namely, exhaustive RIS-aided (ERA) opportunistic (ORA) schemes. A mathematical framework, which relies on method moments, is proposed statistically characterize end-to-end (e2e) these It shown that either Gamma distribution or Log-Normal can used approximate magnitude e2e channel coefficients in both With findings, evaluate performance schemes terms outage probability (OP) ergodic capacity (EC), tight closed-form expressions for OP EC derived. Representative results show ERA scheme outperforms ORA EC. addition, under i.n.i.d. fading channels, reflecting element settings location have significant impact

A Statistical Characterization of Localization Performance in Wireless Networks

Localization performance in wireless networks has been traditionally benchmarked using the CramérRao lower bound (CRLB), given a fixed geometry of anchor nodes and a target. However, by endowing the target and anchor locations with distributions, this paper recasts this traditional, scalar benchmark as a random variable. The goal of this work is to derive an analytical expression for the distri...

Topology Characterization and Performance Analysis of IEEE 802.15.4 Multi-Sink Wireless Sensor Networks

Topology characterization of wireless sensor networks is a key issue for network planning, management and control as well as for maximizing the network performance and for optimizing protocol design. In this paper we analyze the structure of the topologies formed by means of the IEEE 802.15.4 association procedure, i.e., trees rooted at sink nodes, and we verify how such structures affect the n...

Performance Analysis of Wireless Intrusion Detection Systems

Wireless network security has a considerable attention in recent years. Several security efforts have been exerted to combat the wireless attacks, but unfortunately complete attack prevention at the first line of defense such as authentication, encryption, and firewall is not realistically attainable. Thus, the emphasis on detecting wireless attacks at a second line of defense, in the form of W...

Statistical Modeling and Performance Analysis of Multi-Scaling Traffic

In this paper we propose a new statistical model for multi-scale traffic, and present an exact queueing analysis for the model. The model is based on the central moments and the marginal distributions of the cumulative traffic loads in different time scales. Only the first two moments are needed to characterize the traffic process, which greatly simplifies the representation and estimation. The...
